Staind – Reply (album: Chapter V 2005)

This song is by Staind . They are my favourite band in recent years. This is such an awesome song! I couldn’t find the meaning of this song anywhere but I’m pretty sure Staind wrote it for their fans “Thank you for the letter that you thought you wrote in vain and for the times you chose to stand out in the rain and wait for me, for me”
When I was in junior high, I was very naughty. I’ve spent most of my time outside of class, annoying all my teachers and interrupting other classes. I was picking on one particular teacher. I made up some stupid nicknames for him. He had a ridicules long beard. He used it to hide his crooked teeth. He was very short and skinny. He was a tiny man covered with lots of hair on his face. One day he was teaching another class and I was very bored because I got kicked out of my classroom by another teacher. While I was outside I kept opening his classroom door. He closed it and I opened it. This game lasted for a couple of minutes until he had enough and when I’ve opened the door again he slapped me in the face. It was quite painful, even though he was a small man, he was quite strong. I was in a complete shock. The entire class had witnessed it. Everyone told me that I should complain about it to the School principal and that he should get fired for hitting me. The following day my teacher was so scared that I’m going to report him that he took me for a chat and he kept apologizing and begged me not to say anything because he might lose his job. At some point I’ve stopped listening to what he had to say, I just looked at him and felt sorry for him with his shitty job and his shitty teeth and his tiny body and I’ve decided not to tell anyone about this incident. That’s probably the first time that I’ve realized that teachers have the crappiest job ever! Of course it never stopped me from humiliating the rest of my teachers all through high school. Check out this wonderful song…

Bloc Party – Banquet (album: Silent Alarm 2005)

This song is by Bloc Party. A young group that brings the good old alternative music back to life.
I have no idea what’s this song about, who cares as long as the music is cool. Now for something completely different, I’ll tell you about how one of my best friend’s covered the entire school with Graffiti. She has written lines from songs of a famous rock star. She and a couple of other friends sneaked into our high school at night time and sprayed the entire outside walls. She never told us about it though. I was 16 back then and I went to school as usual and when I got to school I saw the Graffiti everywhere, she didn’t leave any white spots on the walls. It was covered with paint everywhere. Everyone was whispering about who has done it, all of us had speculations about it. We blamed each other. I just couldn’t believe that my friend actually took part of it. She is crazy and all but that was way too wild for anyone. Of course we found out it was her after the school principal got the police involved. We all had to be checked by the police. My friend was caught because she still had some paint stuck to her nails, she couldn’t take it off. It was quite funny! The school didn’t press any charges but they asked my friend to clean the graffiti from the walls. It was quite a big job for one person so everyone volunteered to help out. I couldn’t take part of the cleaning because back then her parents thought that I was a bad influence so she wasn’t allowed to hang out with me while they were around. they got over it a few months after but at the time I had to stay away from her. She was actually the bad influence. She was way more disturbed than me but because we had a really shitty teacher that was trying to break us up, she rang her parents and said that I’m a bad influence and that they should keep her away from me. She did the same thing with my parents; she called them in and said that another guy friend that I had back then was a bad influence and that I should stay away from him. My parents were smart enough not to listen to that bitch. Years later I’ve worked in a bank as a personal banker and this teacher was one of my clients, it was payback time and I did everything I could to make her life miserable! And that’s my story for today, check out this wonderful song…

Bomfunk Mc’s – Freestyler (album: In Stereo 2011)

This song is by Bomfunk Mc’s. This song was a huge hit back in 2000, I fell in love it instantly when I first heard back when it was released. 11 years later and it’s still a pretty cool song.

I started going out to clubs when I was about 11 years old. Quite a young age for clubbing but where I lived it was quite common because some really disturbed adults opened clubs especially for kids in these ages. Every Friday night there were buses that picked us up close to where we lived and dropped us off in different clubs. My friends and I used to hang out in two main clubs. We would dress up for the occasion, get some money for soft drinks and dance all night, sometimes we would dance with a cute boy that we met that night. Later on when the party was over the same bus would take us home. None of my class mates used to go out to these clubs because they weren’t allowed to go there, I used to go out with kids from a different school that I’ve met thorough my neighbor that was also my best friend. I used to brag about it to all of my class mates, I felt really important going out to those clubs meeting different kids from different schools. When I look back on it I was way too young to hang out in these clubs especially since I was exposed to horror stories such as stabbings and all kind of things that you are not supposed to know when are only 11 years old. It did contribute to my street wisdom which helped me a lot when I moved to a new city a year after .I’ve always been an independent girl from an early stage and it was just another way to express my freedom at a young age. I don’t regret it; I got some really stupid memories from it. Check out this cool 2000 song…

Orgy – Blue Monday (album: Candyass 1998)

This song is by Orgy. Quite an interesting chose of a band’s name! This is a cover song for the New wave band new order. It is such a good version. I’ve added the original by New Order which is really good as well.
This song is probably about failed relationship. It’s always about the same subject! It’s probably hard writing about something else but drugs and relationships! Speaking of drugs, I’ll tell you about my first hash experience. I was about 16 years. I went with two of my friends to an abounded house that was just across from where I lived. We sat in the corridor which had no windows. We passed the hash between us and I was very nervous. I was so scared I would get caught, I did drink and smoke cigarettes and my parents did find out about it but I always felt like illegal drugs were too much for me to handle. Anyway I got so paranoid that I started seeing the blue flashing police lights on the walls, there were no windows where we were sitting but I was completely hallucinating, it was quite scary. I felt like every second the police will break in and arrest me. I really believed that they didn’t have anything better to do but chase a stupid little girl. After that experience I stayed away from drugs for a while. I realize that I was seeing things because I was under the influence but I didn’t understand the point of letting your mind wander to scary places without being able to control your thoughts and feelings. It was horrible! And that was my way of staying away from drugs as a teenager, it helped for awhile. Check out this cool song…

Lyrics: New Order Blue Monday

What’s this song about?

In an interview for Channel 4's countdown of the biggest selling UK singles, the band (New Order) claimed to have written the song in response to crowd disappointment at the fact that they never played encores. This song, they say, allowed them to return to the stage, press play on a synthesiser and leave the stage again. An example of this happening appears on New Order's concert video Pumped Full of Drugs. (Wikipedia – Blue Monday)

The Butterfly Effect - A Slow Descent (album: Imago 2006)

This song is by the Aussie band The Butterfly Effect. My Hubby introduced them to me. This is such a nice song!

I have no clue what’s this song about, but it doesn’t really matter as long as the music is good ;) ill just tell you one of my stupid teenager adventures stories. As I’ve mentioned before, my friends and I used to hitchhike everywhere, we would make up stories to our parents and we would disappear for a few days. We didn’t have any money and we had to buy food and cigarettes. So we found a great way to earn some quick money by asking people on the street for some coins. We would stop people on the street and tell them a story about how we have lost our wallets and all we need is some coins for the bus to take us home. We had another story about someone rubbing us, we made up a lot of stories, and sometimes we had to improvise depends on the person we were talking to. Sometimes we used tears or look really miserable and people believed us. We were quite good actors and we made a lot of money this way. Some people bought us food, others offered to pay for accommodation in a hotel. We discovered a lot of kind people that were willing to help. Anyway, through these adventures we met so many people and made so much money, we always found a way to get by. I hope my parents don’t read my blog because this is something that I forgot to mention to them. It was just another act of daring and we loved being in those situations. We were just bored to death and found all kind of creative ways to overcome our boredom.  Check out this awesome song…

Creed – My Sacrifice (album: Weathered 2001)

his song is by Creed. It’s such a good song. The lead singer sounds a little bit like Eddie Vedder. This song is about reuniting with someone that was very special in life that due to life circumstances your ways have been parted. It’s a very sentimental song that I can definitely relate to since I have a few dear friends that physically away from me but they will always be in my heart.

Speaking of good friends, I’ll tell you about some bad once that I had. When I was around 10, my brother used to go to Karate class, he was in a very advanced level and practicing at home all the time, I was very curious about it so he taught me a few moves; he told me that if one of the boys messes with me then I should kick him in the nuts. There was a kid in my class that was quite vicious and he used to make fun of my size, back then I was a very tiny girl compare to others in my class but I was short and cute and we all know that good things come in small packages! Of course they do! Anyway, one day this kid pushed me to the limit, he started calling me a midget. I knew I had to teach him a lesson so I decide to practice the “kick in the nuts” that my Brother had shown me. I lifted my right leg towards his nuts but because I was quite flexible back then, I lifted my leg too high and I accidently kicked him in the neck. The kid started choking, he couldn’t breathe for a few seconds, and he had this fear look in his eyes. He survived this incident but never spoke to me again. And all the boys in my class knew not to mess with me anymore and I was free of any harassment about my size forever. Check out this wonderful song about someone special in your life…

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (album: A Night at the Opera 1975)

This next song is by Queen. This is one of their classics. It has all types of music in one song, it is an amazing masterpiece. The guitar solo is awesome!!! I remember back when Freddie Mercury died, I was only 14 years old and I’ve heard about the band before but never had a chance to listen to all of their famous songs, after Freddie’s death their songs were constantly played on the radio and some of my friends became really big fans of the band. It was quite ironic that Freddie’s death made them really famous back in the 90’s. But that’s how it is in our world; artists gain more recognition for their work after they die. Anyway, I really enjoyed their music but I was too busy exploring Heavy Metal world so I just enjoyed listening to them whenever I was at a friend’s house or on the radio. My mum is actually a big Freddie Mercury fan and she got his solo album which she enjoys very much. Freddie’s is an unbelievable vocalist!  Oh and from some reason people believed that Tim Curry who played in Rocky Horror Picture show Movie is his brother so I took the liberty to do some investigations and I found out that Freddie was a big fan of the movie and he met Tim Curry at some point and they became good friends. But other than that there is no blood relation between the two. Check out their most famous creation …

Lyrics: Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics

What’s this song about?

Freddie Mercury wrote most of "Bohemian Rhapsody" at his home in Holland Road, Kensington, in west London. Much of Queen's material was written in the studio according to May, but this song "was all in Freddie's mind" before they started. Music scholar Sheila Whiteley suggests that "the title draws strongly on contemporary rock ideology, the individualism of the bohemian artists' world, with rhapsody affirming the romantic ideals of art rock." Commenting on bohemianism, Judith Peraino said that "Mercury intended... [this song] to be a 'mock opera,' something outside the norm of rock songs, and it does follow a certain operatic logic: choruses of multi-tracked voices alternate with arialike solos, the emotions are excessive, the plot confusing." Ugly Kid Joe – Cat’s in the cradle (album: Verities & Balderdash 1990)

This song is by Ugly Kid Joe. I fell in love with it the first time I’ve heard it. It is such an awesome song! This is a cover song for Harry Chapin’s song. I’ve added the original song by Harry Chapin as well.

This song is about the crazy cycle of life and our relationship with our parents. When we are kids we constantly want to be around our parents and wish we could be like them and we think they know everything. As you grow old you want to spend less time with your parents, you realize that there are a lot things they don’t know and a few things you would do differently and wish you’ll never become like your parents. It’s quite funny! I believe that once my Hubby and I will have kids of our own we will experience this cycle as well. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to spend enough time with my kids while they are growing up because later on they wouldn’t want me around them anymore. I’ll make sure to always explain to them that I don’t know everything and that they should always have a mind of their own. I’ll show them what’s good and what’s bad but I’ll always make sure that they’ll find their own path in this world and I’m hoping that they wouldn’t want to be like us and just be whatever they feel like. Check out this wonderful cover song…

Lyrics: Cat's in the cradle Ugly Kid Joe

What’s this song about?

The song is told in first-person by a father who is too busy to spend time with his son. Though the son asks him to join in childhood activities, the father always responds with little more than vague promises of spending time together in the future, peppered with images from nursery rhymes. While wishing to spend time with his father, the son continues to admire him, wishing to be "just like him". This shapes the son's future behavior, as shown in the slightly-altered line "But we'll get together then, Dad". The final two verses are a reverse of the roles, where the father asks his now graduated and grown-up son to visit, but the son responds with his father's line. The father then reflects that they are both alike, saying "my boy was just like me." (Wikipedia – Cat’s in the cradle)

Kings of Leon – Sex on Fire (album: Only by the Night 2008)

This next song is by Kings of Leon. They are such a good band but I can’t stand the lead singer’s voice, he completely irritates me. This is such a wonderful song though. My Hubby and his back then band made such a nice cover to it, he gave an unbelievable guitar performance all of them were amazing. Their singer had a much better voice.
Speaking of fire again, I’ll tell you the story of how my parents find out about my smoking habits. When I was 16 one of the teachers caught me and another friend smoking in my high school’s girl’s toilet. I have no idea what we were thinking of hiding the smoke in the toilet, you could smell it from miles but back then there were guards everywhere in my school and you couldn’t hide anything anymore. It was quite a strict environment, I’ve felt like I was in prison, no wonder I wanted to rebel. Anyway, the school principal invited my parents for a chat, my Dad showed up. I didn’t tell him the reason they wanted him there, I was too scared. When he walked into the principle office, the principle dramatically told him “sir we caught your daughter smoking in the girl’s toilet” my Dad’s reaction was “weed?” the principal answered “no sir, cigarettes” my Dad said “you called me all the way here for cigarettes?” I was in the room and I couldn’t stop laughing, my Dad was on my side. Of course he was very cross with me finding out about my smoking but he didn’t think the school principle should involve him in this shit. After this incident I got expelled for 3 days which was kind of cool because I spent some nice time at home. As for my parents, my mum couldn’t believe that I was smoking, she was in a quite shock. First I lied and said that I was helping a friend in crises and there was nowhere to talk so we went into the toilets. She believed me. At some point I’ve told her the truth. My father said “I don’t care what you do to your body but make sure that neighbors won’t see you” since then he started buying me cigarettes and I’ve smoked in my room. He was so cool about it but what can a parent do when his child rebelling like that. I think my parents approach for my naughty behavior is the right way to go because they let me experience things in my own way and by not prohibiting me of doing things, I’ve learned what’s good and what’s wrong. I think I’ve ended up on the right path after all. Check this smoky song…

What’s this song about?

In an interview with Robbie, Marieke and the Doctor on Australian radio station Triple J, Nathan explained that the band never intended the song to be named "Sex on Fire".

"They were totally different lyrics. Depending on whether a song starts with a melody or starts with lyrics, you know if it starts with a melody you just keep playing the melody over and over until you get it down and just throw in any lyrics that fit the verbal flow. It was actually going to be "Set Us on Fire", but one of the sound mixers in the studio walked in as we were playing and said, "Sex on Fire", huh?" And it just kind of became a running joke, and we stuck with it.".(Wikipedia – Sex on fire)

Keane – Somewhere only we know (album: Hopes and Fears 2004)

This song is by Keane. It is such a magical song, I love it and I never get tired of it. I know it’s quite mushy but it’s worth listening to.
For me this song is about the special experiences that I share with my Hubby. My favourite thing is when my Hubby and I make music together; He plays the guitar or composes music on his computer. Sometimes I sing and he plays along, sometimes we even record it and it is such a fun process. A few times we’ve played the guitar together, he taught me how to play the rhythm and then he joined in with a solo part. We do get moments of perfect harmony until I ruin it with my luck of concentration issues! It is so magical sharing this passion for music together. It definitely feels like “somewhere only we know…” check out this wonderful song…

Lyrics: Somewhere only we know Lyrics

What’s this song about?

Richard Hughes, Keane's drummer, offered the following explanation of the song on Chris Flynn's fansite:

We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time… (Wikipedia – Somewhere only we know)

Babes in Toyland – won’t tell (album: Babes in Toyland 1992

This song is by Babes in Toyland. They have such a cool band name. This song brings back all the memories of the alternative rock clubs that I used to go to , they used to play Babes In Toyland all the time. I had a friend that was a huge fan as well. It’s cool to see girls make alternative rock music, I’m very jealous!

When I was about 15, I used to go out to a club that was in my Hubby’s town. His town was 20 min drive from where I lived. My Hubby used to go out to the same club. I didn’t know my Hubby back then but we were both hanging around in the same clubs. The boys will always get into fights and one night as I was sitting next to a table there was a guy thrown by another guy and landed on my table. I remembered it because this fight was quite brutal and I was quite scared for my own life. Years later I’ve discovered that the guy that landed on my table was my hubby! That was quite an amazing discovery. He was always getting into fights back then, he quite enjoyed it. It’s a waste we didn’t meet back then when we were teenagers, we could have done some damage together and that could have been fun fun fun !!! Check out this cool tough girl’s song…

Three Days Grace – Never too late (album: One-X 2007)

This song is by Three Days Grace. It’s quite a depressing song but the music is amazing so I choose to ignore the lyrics ;) I suggest you do the same!

This song is definitely talks about someone that wants to end his life. When I was a teenager, one of my best friends was trying to commit suicide. She swallowed a pack of pain killers. We all knew that she didn’t mean to harm herself and it was just a call for help. Eventually she was fine and nothing happened. She had a few issues though, smoked weed and other shit and she was drinking heavily; she also used to lie a lot about everything. We were very upset about it. Even though we felt so close to her, we didn’t know anything about her because she never told the truth and she always tried to hide things from us. A few years later when we were no longer friends with her we discovered that all these years she was living with an abusive dad. The entire family was affected by it. 5 years ago her younger sister committed suicide. It was quite a tragedy. I always felt so close to this girl and at the same time I knew nothing about her, it took me a few years to realize that everything that I thought I knew about her was completely false. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to live with abusive parents. If only she would have shared this information with her friends then we would have been able to help her. I’ve also felt really betrayed because I was very close to her and shared everything with her and all I got in return is a bunch of lies. Nothing in our friendship seemed real afterwards. It is quite scary. Today she is married for the second time and expecting her fourth child. I hope she is happy because I know deep inside she is a good person and she deserved a good life after what she’s been through. I forgave her a long time ago. Check out this amazing song about pretty depressing subject…

What’s this song about?

This song's meaning was explained by Three Days Grace frontman, Adam Gontier, at a live performance on March 7, 2007 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., where he stated, "this song is about being in a very dark place, but being able to see a way out." Then, at the Palace, in Detroit, Michigan, he explained it as, "feeling like you don't belong here, and wanting to give up, but never giving up."  (Wikipedia – Never too late)

Deep Purple – Smoke on the water (album: Machine Head 1972)

This song is by Deep Purple. My hubby showed me how to play it on his electric guitar. I remember when I was a teenager all my friends and everyone around me loved this song. Every time I met someone that could play the guitar, this would be the first song he would play. I’ve also added the awesome cover version by Metallica.

Speaking of fire, when I was about 8 years old, I had a friend that was in the same class with me. She had a one year older brother that was very disturbed. One time I came over to play in my friend’s house and her brother walked into her room and he was playing with matches. He showed us how he can put off a match with his hand. At some point he turned to me and said “let’s see if you can do that as well” of course I wasn’t brainless and I knew how dangerous it is so I’ve refused. Then he said “I bet it’s because you are scared, you’re a chicken, I want to see you do that”. He put a lot of pressure on me and I was quite scared of him so I said I’ll do it. I was holding the match and my hand was getting near the burning match and then her brother shoved my hand towards the match and I’ve burned my hand. I was in a severe pain and I’ve cried a lot. He gave me a cotton ball and he told me not to tell anyone about it otherwise he will beat me to death. I’ve never been so scared in my life. I went home and I was too scared to tell my mum about it because I was afraid he will beat me up. So I’ve hidden it from her for 3 days. On the third day my mum noticed that I was hiding me hand and asked me what are you holding in your hand and of course I said nothing , finally she made me open my hand and she saw the burn that I got in my hand. She was in a complete shock, she started asking me how did that happen and I broke down and told her the whole story. She rang his mum and told her the story as well. His parents beat him up for what he did. The following day I was scared to go to school in case he will see me and bash me up. He never got near me since that day. That was the end of my friendship with this girl; I wasn’t allowed to be friends with her anymore. A few years later I heard this guy was doing time for a rape he had committed. And that’s how this criminal started his career… Anyway, check out this smoking song…

What’s this song about?

This song is about a fire in the Casino at Montreux, Switzerland. The band was going to record their Machine Head album there right after a Frank Zappa concert, but someone fired a flare gun at the ceiling during Zappa's show, which set the place on fire. The band was relocated to another hotel and recorded the album in the Rolling Stones mobile studio.

Republica – Ready to go (album: Republica 1996)

This song is by Republica. They had two really big hits back in 1996. I loved this song very much! I’ve listened to a few other songs and they are quite cool.
I’m guessing this song is about bad relationship Again. I’ll tell you about the first boy in my life. All through elementary school I was hanging around with one sweet boy, he was my neighbor and in the same class with me. For 6 years we were constantly together. Everyone thought we are going to be end up together for the rest of our life. When I was 12 years old, my parents decided to move to a different town and that was the end of our friendship. Anyway, when I was about 10 he gave me a nice photo of him making a sweet boyish pose. In return I gave him a photo of me making a silly face with a puffy hair, I looked really spastic but it was the purpose of this photo because I thought it was funny and I wanted him to laugh. One day we had a huge fight and we stopped talking to each other. Because we were just kids and kids usually do horrible things to each other, he took the photo and he showed it to all kids in my neighborhood, everyone was making fun of my photo. I did look ridicules but I was trying to share something funny with my friend that was my way of sharing something with him. I think he expected a normal photo of just a sweet girl and he got this stupid photo. I found it very entertaining. Because everyone was making fun of me, I didn’t leave the house for a week; it was quite a trauma for me. Looking back I’m quite amazed by the fact that at such young age I had a sense of humor and none of the neighborhood kids could understand it. I’m quite amazed by the way I was looking at life and how I always wanted to laugh and have fun. Of course I did have my revenge a few years later, when I moved to my new town I got my new girlfriends to prank this boy all the time. It was funny! Eventually all my friends from the previous town used to hang out in the same alternative rock clubs I used to go to so I got to see this boy everywhere. It always made me think that even if my parents decided to stay in the previous town I would have ended up in the same place. It’s quite weird! Check out this cool song…

Talking Heads – Burning down the house (album: Speaking in Tongues 1983)

This next song is by Talking Heads. I love the original song and the cover that was released in 1999 by Tom Jones & The Cardigans is absolutely amazing!!! I’ve added the cover video as well.

I have quite a story about the cover song that happened at the same time it was released. My friend and I got completely addicted to it and we couldn’t stop listening to it together. We sang along as well every time it was on, it was quite a hit in the 80’s and it was back in fashion thanks to the amazing Tom Jones cover. We also developed all kind of hobbies at the time, every time something else. Since my friend is very creative we started making bead necklaces, we spent hours making at her house. One time we were sitting in her room listening to this song with a closed door and at some point after hours of making those necklaces I’ve asked my friend to get me something to drink, it was a really good timing because as soon as my friend opened the door she realized that her house was on fire. The house had 3 floors and we were on the second floor where the fire started. The fire was coming towards us, the whole third floor was completely burned and there was fire everywhere. We ran out of the house and of course invited the fire fighters to try and save whatever is left of the house. We were saved! It was one of the scariest ordeals that ever happened to me. We kept talking about how lucky we were that she came out of the room otherwise we would have been trapped. She was also able to alarm her brother that was on the third floor. We were completely in shock after this incident and the Irony of this happening at the same time that we were listening to this song was too much to handle. Ever since that day my friend couldn’t listen to this song anymore. She was completely traumatized by it. Half of the house was completely burned and the entire family stayed in a motel for a while.  Anyway, it’s been 13 years since I’ve listened to this song. I hope my friend got over this trauma. Check out this cool song that had quite an impact on my life…
